Sam is a nice man as everyone knows. At night though when he is asleep something comes out in him that can be so mean. Last night I got up to the bathroom (big surprise) when I got back in bed I asked Sam to cuddle with me, he told me he already was cuddling with me, which he wasn't. I told him so and he told me I needed to get help! That is not the first time he has said mean things in his sleep and it won't be the last.
I don't think people should call the two year old stage the terrible two's. Elijah isn't terrible he is independent, energetic, says what is on his mind when he can find the words for it, stubborn, dramatic and loud. He is also very curious. Yesterday he emptied the recycling into the dog water bowl, I asked him to clean it up and he told me no. So of course he got a time out. When he came out of his room he was upset not because he got a time out but because his clothes were wet. Today at our doctors appt. he thought the babies heart beat was a weeooh (fire truck).
I am 28 weeks huge! I am still running and doing pilates though. Besides the fact that I am so big I feel really good. The baby is acitve and keeps me awake at night already. Hopefully at our next doctor's appt. we get to schedule the c-section so we will know the baby's birthday very soon.
oh yeah Elijah had his two year check up last week. Of course he is completely healthy. He only weighs 22lbs 11oz, and he is 32 1/2 inches tall.

Elijah's New Dance

We had Elijah's birthday party on Friday night. It was quite the party! My family, Sam's family and friends all came. Elijah had a car's cake and lots and lots of presents. He has more car stuff now than he knows what to do with.
On Friday Elijah also had his first sleep over! He slept at Aunt Laura's, in her bed with her and her four small dogs!! I think I had a harder time with it than he did.

The Good, The Bad and The Vomiting.

Beautiful and soooo nice.

Jacob is a good big brother to his Gaboo.

Make yourself at home Elijah.

Now seriously isn't that cute.

"What you gonna do now Gaboo?"

Elijah and I had a good time in Denver. It was nice to see my sister and her family. I seriously love all of them so much, they are so much fun to be around. Gaboo (Gabriel) and Elili (Elijah) got some play time together but I think Gaboo was tired of Elili by the time we left. Elijah might be a little loud, demanding and rough for Gabe sometimes. So after a full weekend of hanging out, watching the toddlers play together, and being entertained by Dana's family we went to bed early to catch an early flight out on Monday morning. About six hours before our flight I woke up thinking I was not feeling too good and right then Elijah starts throwing up in Sophie's bed! I get him and the bed cleaned up and realize I too am going to be sick. So I canceled our flight and let Juan take care of us for a day. It is nice to be home with Sam but I think us being gone for an extra day was good for him, his test went well! Elijah and I are going to spend today recovering and hanging with Sam. Thank you Dana for a good weekend, for letting us eat all your food, and for flying us there!!! Thank you Sophia for letting us take over your room and for not minding too much when your bed got puked in.

We had a good week!! Sam and I both worked this weekend but got some time together on Saturday. I took Elijah to the zoo on Tuesday and Sam took him on Wednesday. The zoo is so cool in the winter. The animals are so much more active and there are hardly any people there. Elijah can run wild for two hours and see all the animals he wants! Elijah and I are going to Denver in the morning! I am so excited, I haven't seen my sister and her family in a year. Sam has a test next Tuesday so this will give him a chance to study without us bugging him.
Our house search hasn't gone so well. There are a lot of interesting houses out there. I really don't know what people are thinking sometimes. I know we will find something in our price range and in the area we want if we stay calm and keep looking.
Next week Elijah turns two!!!! I can not believe it.
I will post pictures when I get back from Denver.

Elijah's vocabulary has expanded quite a bit!!! He has some new funny sayings and everyday repeats the things we say. We are now very careful of the words we use around him. Some of my favorite new Elijah sayings are:
"What Happened?",
"Yes Mom" one of my favorite,
"Back UP!" funny when he says it to the dogs not funny when he says it to us,
"Thank you and You Welcome",
"Sam",
"Snacks", "Mangos",
" I FAST" as he runs or rides his bike through the house,
"I Jump" as he jumps off couches, stairs (scary), chairs and other objects he should be scared to jump off but doesn't seem to have any fear.

Sam got a phone call last night from the credit card company, seems someone charged $50 to an escort/dating agency. They also made hundreds of dollars in other charges for random things. The only way someone could have got our credit card number was last Sunday when we went out to eat and used it. Before dinner we hadn't used it in a while and two days after dinner is when the charges started to appear. So either the waiter at the Market Street Grill stole our credit card number or Sam has some explaining to do. I am thinking it is the waiter. I called Market Street to let the management know and though they were very nice to me, she did let me know that they haven't had any other complaints.
So I say Duh you Jackass to the waiter next time you get an escort on a customers stolen credit card think about the people you stole from. Are they the kind of people that call an escort!!! We wouldn't have found out so soon if he hadn't done that.
On a funny note while Sam and I were talking about this situation last night we got very excited not mad at each other just excited. Elijah got very concerned, crawled into my lap, grabbed my face and very seriously told me "no daddy no" he thought I was mad at Sam and was sticking up for him. How cute is that!!!!

We went on a date on Sunday night. Elijah stayed with Aunt Laura and Uncle Larry while Sam and I saw a movie and had a nice dinner.
Happy Anniversary to Dana and Juan. They have been married for 11 years!!

Happy New Year's SF's!!!!!!!

2008 was a good year for us. Elijah went from a barely walking baby to a running, screaming, very cute and bossy toddler. Sam started grad school and did very well his first semester. I got back into college and I am pregnant again. We are looking forward to this next year!!! We might be able to buy a house (keep your fingers crossed for us), Sam will be half way done with grad school by the end of this year, I will have a few more college credits done, Elijah will be an even bigger boy and best of all we will have our new baby in May.
Elijah has now slept in his own bed for six nights in a row!!!! He is doing pretty good but I am tired and I miss him at night. It is nice to have our bed to ourselves though.

Elijah one year ago.

and my boy today. So much change in one short year!!!!

Christmas

Christmas was so much fun. Christmas eve we went snow shoeing then had the traditional family taco night. Christmas morning we woke up kind of early and opened presents. Elijah loves opening presents. He gets so excited and even more excited if the present is a car. My mom, dad and brother Lucas came over for breakfast. To make the morning even better Sam got called off for the first four hours of his shift. My dad and I went for a run after breakfast and man it was cold!!! After Sam went to work Elijah and I took a nap and then headed to my sisters house for family dinner. Elijah got to open more presents, he could barely help himself he had to open everyones presents. He kept saying "more presents".
Today my living room looks more like Elijah's toy box and we keep having to sit and play with all the new toys. Time to clean out the old toys to make room for all the new stuff.
I did enjoy christmas so much more this year because of Elijah. Watching him be so excited by everything made me remember how exciting christmas is!!!

Christmas morning!!

YES!!!!

Uncle Lucas teasing Elijah

Sam took his last final of the semester yesterday!!!! He has done so good this semester I know he did well on on his finals. We celebrated by eating dinner at La Frontera then headed to Lights at the Zoo. It was a cold night but we had a lot of fun. Elijah just ran through the whole zoo, yelling "lights, lights". Today was a nice relaxing day. Sam and I went to the gym while Elijah went to daycare then chilling, watching Cars and Prison Break, eating good food and taking a family nap. I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks with Sam being home. Everything starts again January 12th!! This time I will be taking a class also.

Elijah

I know every parent thinks this but I really think Elijah is so funny and so beautiful. He is so energetic and so full of life. Every day he makes me laugh and appreciate life. He did get upset with me the other day and told me "no no pow pow mama". Pow pow means spanking in our house!! I wasn't sure what to say to that. His new thing is drinking water from the dog water bowl. I do give him water but he likes the dog water. His favorite things to eat are meat and mangos!

Before his bath he has to run around the house naked. I think he feels free when he is naked.

We played in the snow!! He thought it was a good time to howl and scream.

The box does not say anything about putting Q-tips in your nose.

It is the same Q-tip.

Seriously.

Yesterday evening Elijah and I were waiting for Sam to come home from school. I looked at Elijah and asked "where is your dad"? Elijah looked at me like I was not very smart and said "work". He then walked away from me. I felt really silly for even asking and being told by my toddler.

We had a good Thanksgiving. Sam had the whole day off no school and no work!! I loved having him around all day. Sam's Mom and Kelvin were able to come from New Mexico to spend the weekend with us. They came to my family dinner, it was nice to have everyone together. Dinner was really good, we went through a lot of food and had a good time hanging out.
I ran the Cold Turkey run thanksgiving morning. I felt good but really felt all that uphill and downhill the next day.

Me and my man.

Yes he got into the tub with his clothes and diaper on!

Katie, Laura and their hot mama.

Dani and Val!

Juanita looks pretty but Eric and Larry you need to work on your posing.

Some of the family after Thanksgiving dinner.

Uncle Zack is getting Elijah hyper.

Things are going well at the Atencio-Sloan house.
Sam is busy but he seems to be finding a good balance between work, school, and home. He is doing good in all six of his classes (of course). I think he still really misses cyclocross but he will miss it until he has time to race again.
Elijah and I are enjoying the mellow weather. We have been running, doing yard work, going to the park and Elijah has been getting dirty outside. Elijah is also enjoying watching Cars, I try to let him watch it once a day but the kid loves his Cars.
Elijah has also decided he likes taking showers with me. If I don't let him in, he just gets himself in, clothes and all! I think it is really funny but his shoes take a long time to dry out.
I am feeling really good. I am fifteen weeks pregnant and loving this part. I am still running up to four miles a day. I am not sick anymore and my energy is back up! I have a little bit of a belly but I think Sam and I are the only ones who notice. Elijah thinks he has a baby in his belly too, it is so cute when he points to his belly and says "baby". I can't believe I am going to have two kids!

Elijah watching Cars. This is serious toddler business.

He can't resist the bike.

Elijah wants to know why he can't watch Cars again.

Monday, November 03, 2008

I am so tired of people not knowing how to drive. I went for a three mile run today and I almost got run over three times!!! So here is my thing when you are driving your car and you come to a red light you do not stop at the third white line you stop at the first white line! If you are at a stop sign you stop behind the stop sign and you come to a complete stop look for oncoming traffic and foot traffic and then you drive. You do not drive while talking on your cell phone. If you almost run someone over you do not flip them off when they get frustrated with you. Pedestrians have the right of way on cross walks, this means if a person is crossing the street on a cross walk you have to stop for them. If you live in a city guess what people run, walk and bike a lot!!!! The bike lane is for bikes not for a speeding asshole. If you can not understand this maybe you should get out of your car and walk/bike for a week then you will get it.

Halloween

Halloween went better than I thought it would. We got Elijah's costume on with only a little bit of a fight, thank goodness Gabrielle was there to give him candy! Once the trick-or-treating got started Elijah got into it. He kept going up to doors and saying "knock". Of course everyone thought he was cute and gave him way too much candy. A block away from home he got a sucker and the night was over! Elijah got what he came for and he was satisfied.
After trick-or-treating Elijah and I met Sam at his Aunt and Uncles house for some food and cookies! Elijah kept everyone entertained (he was on a sugar high).
Four years ago yesterday Sam and I started hanging out!! I feel like it has been so much longer than that! It has been the best four years of my life!
