Christmas

Christmas was so much fun. Christmas eve we went snow shoeing then had the traditional family taco night. Christmas morning we woke up kind of early and opened presents. Elijah loves opening presents. He gets so excited and even more excited if the present is a car. My mom, dad and brother Lucas came over for breakfast. To make the morning even better Sam got called off for the first four hours of his shift. My dad and I went for a run after breakfast and man it was cold!!! After Sam went to work Elijah and I took a nap and then headed to my sisters house for family dinner. Elijah got to open more presents, he could barely help himself he had to open everyones presents. He kept saying "more presents".
Today my living room looks more like Elijah's toy box and we keep having to sit and play with all the new toys. Time to clean out the old toys to make room for all the new stuff.
I did enjoy christmas so much more this year because of Elijah. Watching him be so excited by everything made me remember how exciting christmas is!!!

Christmas morning!!

YES!!!!

Uncle Lucas teasing Elijah

Sam took his last final of the semester yesterday!!!! He has done so good this semester I know he did well on on his finals. We celebrated by eating dinner at La Frontera then headed to Lights at the Zoo. It was a cold night but we had a lot of fun. Elijah just ran through the whole zoo, yelling "lights, lights". Today was a nice relaxing day. Sam and I went to the gym while Elijah went to daycare then chilling, watching Cars and Prison Break, eating good food and taking a family nap. I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks with Sam being home. Everything starts again January 12th!! This time I will be taking a class also.

Elijah

I know every parent thinks this but I really think Elijah is so funny and so beautiful. He is so energetic and so full of life. Every day he makes me laugh and appreciate life. He did get upset with me the other day and told me "no no pow pow mama". Pow pow means spanking in our house!! I wasn't sure what to say to that. His new thing is drinking water from the dog water bowl. I do give him water but he likes the dog water. His favorite things to eat are meat and mangos!

Before his bath he has to run around the house naked. I think he feels free when he is naked.

We played in the snow!! He thought it was a good time to howl and scream.

The box does not say anything about putting Q-tips in your nose.

It is the same Q-tip.

Seriously.

Yesterday evening Elijah and I were waiting for Sam to come home from school. I looked at Elijah and asked "where is your dad"? Elijah looked at me like I was not very smart and said "work". He then walked away from me. I felt really silly for even asking and being told by my toddler.

We had a good Thanksgiving. Sam had the whole day off no school and no work!! I loved having him around all day. Sam's Mom and Kelvin were able to come from New Mexico to spend the weekend with us. They came to my family dinner, it was nice to have everyone together. Dinner was really good, we went through a lot of food and had a good time hanging out.
I ran the Cold Turkey run thanksgiving morning. I felt good but really felt all that uphill and downhill the next day.

Me and my man.

Yes he got into the tub with his clothes and diaper on!

Katie, Laura and their hot mama.

Dani and Val!

Juanita looks pretty but Eric and Larry you need to work on your posing.

Things are going well at the Atencio-Sloan house.
Sam is busy but he seems to be finding a good balance between work, school, and home. He is doing good in all six of his classes (of course). I think he still really misses cyclocross but he will miss it until he has time to race again.
Elijah and I are enjoying the mellow weather. We have been running, doing yard work, going to the park and Elijah has been getting dirty outside. Elijah is also enjoying watching Cars, I try to let him watch it once a day but the kid loves his Cars.
Elijah has also decided he likes taking showers with me. If I don't let him in, he just gets himself in, clothes and all! I think it is really funny but his shoes take a long time to dry out.
I am feeling really good. I am fifteen weeks pregnant and loving this part. I am still running up to four miles a day. I am not sick anymore and my energy is back up! I have a little bit of a belly but I think Sam and I are the only ones who notice. Elijah thinks he has a baby in his belly too, it is so cute when he points to his belly and says "baby". I can't believe I am going to have two kids!

Elijah watching Cars. This is serious toddler business.

He can't resist the bike.

I am so tired of people not knowing how to drive. I went for a three mile run today and I almost got run over three times!!! So here is my thing when you are driving your car and you come to a red light you do not stop at the third white line you stop at the first white line! If you are at a stop sign you stop behind the stop sign and you come to a complete stop look for oncoming traffic and foot traffic and then you drive. You do not drive while talking on your cell phone. If you almost run someone over you do not flip them off when they get frustrated with you. Pedestrians have the right of way on cross walks, this means if a person is crossing the street on a cross walk you have to stop for them. If you live in a city guess what people run, walk and bike a lot!!!! The bike lane is for bikes not for a speeding asshole. If you can not understand this maybe you should get out of your car and walk/bike for a week then you will get it.

Halloween

Halloween went better than I thought it would. We got Elijah's costume on with only a little bit of a fight, thank goodness Gabrielle was there to give him candy! Once the trick-or-treating got started Elijah got into it. He kept going up to doors and saying "knock". Of course everyone thought he was cute and gave him way too much candy. A block away from home he got a sucker and the night was over! Elijah got what he came for and he was satisfied.
After trick-or-treating Elijah and I met Sam at his Aunt and Uncles house for some food and cookies! Elijah kept everyone entertained (he was on a sugar high).
Four years ago yesterday Sam and I started hanging out!! I feel like it has been so much longer than that! It has been the best four years of my life!

Getting Big

Elijah is getting so big. He isn't a baby anymore, he is a little boy. He loves playing cars, he takes his cars and makes car noises as he pushes them along. He loves bikes! One of the first things he wants in the morning is his bike. He watches bikes on youtube with his dad and he gets a big kick out of the big tricks! If he gets on his bike you better be ready to run because he can move fast on that thing! He is into books about witches, cowboys, and snakes, we read the same books over and over again. The song Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes is totally cool. It is so fun to watch him become a little man.

Oh cute they match.

Elijah helping me with the laundry.

He is posing for this picture!!

Look I ate my dinner!

It snowed!!!

We woke up to this!! I can't believe it. I feel like summer was so short this year.

Elijah and I went hiking with Lucas. It was a little too cold for Elijah so we turned back after a mile and a half.

There aren't very many leaves left on the trees but it was still pretty.

Elijah is twenty months today. It is going by so fast. Soon he will be two!! Life moves fast when you have kids.

New Mexico Part 1

Elijah and I went to New Mexico this weekend to visit Buckey and Bama. We had a good time. It was nice to see them and it was nice for them to get some quality time with Elijah. I have more pictures but they aren't downloading. I will try and post more later.

Isn't he cute.

Elijah at the Corn Maze. We let him lead the way, big mistake.

tag

1. This isn't even my blog. It is Sam's, I started blogging when he started grad school.
2. I am addicted to chapstick. I mean really I need it all the time. I have extra tubes hidden in my purse and throughout my house.
3. I never go barefoot. Not even in my own house. I wear flip flops or slippers all the time. I hate having things on the bottom of my feet.
4. I never throw my hair or finger nail clippings away. I am afraid the witches will get me so I flush everything down the toilet. Sam makes fun of me for this but you know what he flushes his nail clipping too!
5. Sometimes when Elijah and Sam play together I feel like crying. They are so cute together and Sam is such a good dad.
6. I only have thirty credit hours until I graduate with a bachelors degree. I am not sure what I want to be when I grow up though! I am going to take one or two classes a semester until Sam is finished.
7. I use to smoke one pack a day. I loved it, I thought I was so cool. Now I am a runner and I get sick when I smell cigarette smoke.

I know he looks like he is crying but really he is singing his heart out!!!

It has been a long couple of days. I got a stomach virus on Saturday morning that didn't go away until Sunday afternoon. Sam had to come home from work on Saturday and my sister Laura had to take Elijah on Sunday. Sam is very busy with school and work. He has his first test in Biostatistics on Thursday. He is STRESSED! Tomorrow we babysit Jackson for a few hours so that should be fun. He and Elijah get a long pretty well.
Last week Sam and I got a chance to go Monet to Picasso! It was amazing. I saw art I never imagined I would see.
I tried to post a video of Elijah dancing but I couldn't get it to download. He is such a good dancer and he dances all the time. Even today at the zoo we had to stop a few times so he could get his groove on.
