I am holding a sleeping baby, listening to my wild things play while my husband makes dinner. Moments like this make me feel amazingly thankful. All month I have been planning on writing a thankful post. So here it goes.....
I am thankful for
My husband. He is my partner and best friend.
My three wild sons. How lucky am I to have them in my life.
My family that makes me laugh, doesn't let me get away with my bossy ways and always has my back.
For my sister in law Juanita she has taught me that sometimes to be a good parent you have to be completely unselfish and that there are new beginnings.
My brother Lucas. An amazing man who is so important I wanted my son to cary his name.
For my warm home.
I can go to the grocery store and buy all the healthy food I want.
For mid morning Americano's.
That I got to be there to tell my Aunt Teresa good-bye. She knows I forgive her and that I did love her.
I am thankful I found my way.
For running. It keeps me strong physically but also helps me keep sane.
For good hair cuts.
Daily phone calls to my mom.
Sisters that just know.
Brothers that make fun of me.
Aunts and Cousins that aren't blood related but are family.
For my son's laughter
Elijah's crazy hair.
Isaac's dry sense of humor.
That I am a woman. I get the privilege of being pregnant and then breast feeding my babies.
For my grumpy daddy.
Amazing friends.
For modern medicine
That Obama is the president for anther four years.
That I get to take college classes whenever I want. One day I will finish college.
and so much more.

Luc is three weeks old. I can not believe it has already been three weeks, his due date is tomorrow.
It amazes me that I can fall in love like this all over again.
I am such a lucky mama.
I have three wild things.
Three little boys to keep me on my toes.
Isaac and Elijah are going to make sure Luc is spoiled.
Every morning they come downstairs to see how his night went,
if he cries they get upset and ask me over and over again to pick him up.
They help me pick out his outfits, give him a bath and argue about
who is going to hold him.
I am starting to feel a little bit normal, recovering from a c-section is hard.
But I tend to push a little hard and then I have to rest and take half a pain pill.
I am anxious about Sam going back to work on Monday!
If I seem more crazy the next time I post, not to worry it is just me
adjusting to being the ring leader of three wild things.

Yesterday
Being carried around in the mama sling
He loves to cuddle with his baby brother like this
another hilarious family shot
Sam reading to his boys
He likes wearing his pants like this. He says it makes him
look like Mickey Mouse.
My c-section was scheduled for yesterday. Funny when we scheduled my section I knew Captain wasn't going to wait that long, I just didn't think he would be coming as soon as he did. He is getting big already, his newborn clothes are getting tight and he is starting to get fat rolls. I say bring on the fat rolls, I love fat babies!!!

10 days old
My handsome baby boy is ten days old! The third time around caring for new born is so easy, it is the big kids that are the work. I think we are starting to get into some kind of routine and maybe figuring out how to make sure all three of the boys are getting what they need.
I am finally starting to feel like a normal person again! C-sections are hard. I think me not being me has been harder for Elijah and Isaac than anything else.
I have been thinking about how much my life has changed since I met Sam. Eight years ago I never thought I would get married or have kids and I was really good with that. Now I am a mother of three wild boys and I am so happy to be Sam's wife. Meeting Sam changed everything for the better. Sam loving me changed me and made me a better person. The last two weeks have been a challenge for us but I think we have handled it as a team. There is nothing better than watching Sam hang out with our boys, he is such a good dad it makes me love him even more!
I have also been feeling very grateful for our friends and family. Everyone has been so good to us.
Sorry for the cheese I think the baby hormones are making extra cheesy.

He has arrived!!
On September 13th at 1:28 p.m Lucas Dalton Atencio Sloan made his arrival.
aka Luc aka Captain
After six long days of early labor I was finally taken back for my c-section. The minute I heard his little cry everything was worth it! This baby was born at 36 weeks so he was considered late pre-term. He weighed 7lb 5oz and was 20 inches long. He had no problems at all! I can not even imagine how big he would have been had he waited until 39 weeks.
I can not believe I am the mother of three little boys. Elijah is such a good big brother, he is already asking when Captain gets to sleep with him. Isaac is warming up to him, he is upset he can't feed him. I keep trying to explain only woman can feed babies but he insists we can paint boobs on his pecs and he should be good to go.
Luc brought his big brothers skateboards home from the hospital. Coolest little brother present ever!

I am good at a lot of things, but labor is not one of them!!!
I started having good contractions on Friday. After about three hours they would stop and I would be exhausted but ready to continue my day. I did this all weekend and yes I started to get a little emotional. Yesterday morning at about three I woke up with intense contractions. I couldn't stay in bed so I paced front sidewalk for a while. At about six they calmed down enough that I could get some rest. By early afternoon the contractions were back and this time they weren't going away. I finally called my doctor and she had me go to the hospital to get checked. I know my body and I know how much I truly suck at early labor so I didn't think I was going to be dilated.
My mom met Sam, the boys and me at the hospital. They got me all hooked up to the monitors and yes I was having strong contractions that were about three to five minutes apart but I was only dilated to a one!!! I was dilated to a one two weeks ago! They let me labor for two hours and yes the contractions kept coming but no I did not dilate anymore. So they loaded me up on Morphine and Phenergan and sent me home. As of this morning my contractions are back to being irregular.
This is just the way I labor, you know VERY slow. I did this for four days with Isaac before I had, had enough. Today is day five with this baby, but I feel like I have to stay strong. I am only 36 weeks but this coming Friday I will be 37 weeks.
Good thing this is our last baby I am not sure Sam could handle the stress of early labor again! Poor guy, he is so good to me and takes such good care of me. I can see the stress in his eyes.
So maybe the next time I blog I will have a baby or maybe I will be complaining about how much I suck at early labor again.
p.s I have no idea if I am good at active labor because I have never gotten there! Babies and this mama have a hard time being in labor for days at a time.

Life is moving quickly.
Elijah started all day kindergarten! He seems to be enjoying himself and comes home with lots of stories. He is growing his hair long, so he can look like Tommy from the Power Rangers. When he grows up he wants to be a race car driver and a rock star.
Isaac is a three year old. He has moments of pure sweetness and moments of pure three year old terror. He calls me his chick and wants to buy me purple everything! He has figured out the word hate and when he gets on his three year old rampages he hates everything including high school kids.
Summer was great. We got quite a few days of paddle boarding and chilling on the beach. We went camping/cabining a couple of times. Because it was so hot and I am big pregnant we had lots and lots of pool days!
With a lot of help from our family we got our basement painted and lots of little things updated. Sam and I moved our room downstairs and we put Captain's nursery in the room right by us.
I am feeling pretty good for being 35 week pregnant. My biggest complaint is that he has dropped so much walking is difficult. Isaac and Elijah seem very excited to have a baby brother and I am pretty sure this baby is going to be a wild thing just like his brothers.
Sam has been working hard! He is trying to get most of his shifts in before the end of the month, so that means a couple of 17 hour days for him. He rides his bike every day to work, goes to the gym and then works a 10 to 17 hour shift!
I can not believe it is already September. Soon we will have a new baby!

32 weeks
Check out that baby belly!!!
I feel really good besides the heat of course.
I can not believe I am having a baby in a little over six weeks. I am a little nervous to be the mother of three.

mama's got drama
Oh my goodness! I know how to stress my husband out. I had some contractions yesterday that wouldn't go away with fluids and rest. In fact they got worse after two hours! I started to get nauseous with each contraction which isn't a good sign. My doctor wanted me to get checked out just to make sure everything was okay. After some tests, some fluids and anti-nausea medication the contractions started to slow down and were less intense. I was so relieved, I am excited to meet my baby boy but not right now! I was told to get some rest and sent home.
I am not very good at resting. There is a lot to be done and I can't lay around knowing I could be doing something productive. Plus exercising helps my mental health. My OB didn't put my on bed rest but my husband did. I got to sleep until 9:30! Then lay around most of the afternoon. I am not going to lie I am tired today and just this once I am going to enjoy doing very little.

My Wonderful Boy
The other day Elijah found $20 on the ground. Big score for such a small guy. He was so excited and I expected him to spend the money on a toy for himself. But he decided to spend the money buying himself, his cousin and brother kids meals. He had $8 left over so he bought his little brother a car at the grocery store and is saving the last $3 for himself. He also tried to buy Sam and I a pizza but we let him keep his money.
I am so proud of him. What a kind little boy.

Epic Fail 2012
When I got pregnant I decided if I felt good and could maintain come kind of fitness I would still do Ragnar this year. Ragnar can be brutal but mostly because we never get enough sleep. I felt good going into Ragnar. I am tired but it is the normal pregnant lady tired. My asthma is controlled. I was able to run up to 7 miles and still feel good.
My first run was a short 2 mile trail run through Snow Basin. I felt really good but decided I should walk up all the hills since I would be running two more times before I was done. I came across the exchange point feeling strong. Then the trouble started.
About ten minutes after my run I had a sudden onset of my heart beating so hard I could feel it in my throat and then I got dizzy. When I laid down I felt fine but every time I had my head up it came back. I laid down while we drove to our next exchange point and I thought I felt better. Sam, Andrea and I walked to bathroom where my crazy heart rate came back and the so did the dizziness. At that point Sam the NP and Andrea the RN decided I was done. They walked me to the medic tent so they could check me out with the heart monitor. By the time we got there I was starting to feel better (of course) but my heart rate was high, I had a few PVC's (Sam explained these to me but I can not explain them to you) and my blood pressure was high. My parents came and got Sam and I so we could get Captain checked out. The bad part was I left my team two people short, in the middle of the night two people had to run two legs!
Sam and I went to the hospital and Captain was doing great. He was upset they dared to put the monitors on him but that is our boy. My blood work and EKG came back normal. The theory is being pregnant my electrolytes got out of whack (happens easily to pregnant ladies) and then my body freaked out.
Sam and I went home to sleep for a few hours, then met up with our team in Heber so Sam could run his last leg. I did cross the finish line with my awesome team and that felt good.
I am feeling pissed and grateful. I am pissed because I didn't finish. I am grateful that I am okay and my baby is okay. I am grateful I have an amazing husband, amazing family and amazing friends who made sure I was okay and never cared they had to do more runs during Ragnar.
I am already planning Ragnar 2013 and next year I promise to finish and maybe even kick a little ass.

It is a boy!!!
That is right boy number 3!!!! I am so excited to be the mom of three boys. I am a little worried about my mental health for the next 30 years but really how cool. I keep thinking about how wonderful and perfect he was on ultrasound and how Elijah and Isaac are such amazing kids and I just smile. We haven't picked a name yet but his nick name has been Captain since I was six weeks pregnant, thinking that name won't ever go away. Already this baby is so active. Since I was 19 weeks pregnant he has been able to kick hard enough to make me light headed. We had a hard time getting the ultrasound done because he was so crazy. I think he is practicing keeping up with his brothers.
The picture is me 22 weeks pregnant.

San Diego
The day after Isaac's birthday we headed to San Diego. We broke the drive up into two days and it was so worth the kids being irritated about the long car drive.
We rented a small house .37 miles away from the beach in Cardiff by the Sea. The first evening there we headed straight for the beach. It had been so long since I had seen the ocean and it was as wonderful as I remembered. Elijah went right for the waves and started playing. Isaac was a little apprehensive, he would get close to the water but when the waves came up he would scream and run. Our second day there Sam and I took turn going for a run along Highway One and the beach. We spent the rest of the day at the beach recovering from drive.
The next morning Sam did a beach run and then we headed to San Diego Zoo. I am still in awe of that place. The plants there are just as amazing as the animals. We spent seven hours there, took a bus tour and still didn't get to see all the animals.
Thursday morning I got a run in along Highway One. I had a hard time running on the trail, it hurt my ankles. Highway One has a great path along side it and running is a great way to be a tourist. I met my boys at the beach and we played for a little while, then headed into San Diego. We met up with my friend Ginger who moved there a few years ago. She was nice enough to show us around. We went to the Marinetime museum and some other sites in San Diego and then out to eat. Then of course some play time on the beach.
Friday morning Sam went for his last beach run. We then went to SeaWorld. Good thing we had some discount tickets because that place is expensive!!! It was well worth it though. The Killer Whale show made me cry but I am pregnant and crying comes easy to me. We saw lots of cool animals and Sam was able to take our boys on some rides. Another long day and I am sure we didn't see everything.
Saturday I went for another run along Highway One and did a little bit more exploring. We were all sad to be heading home so we decided to leave late and have one more beach day. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect and Isaac was finally ready to play in some waves. It was a great way to end our vacation. Elijah and Isaac now want to move to San Diego, live in a camper van, Sam can run a surf shop and I can clean while they surf.
